Dear Fellow Colleague and Valued Union Member,

Health Department – Member Meeting & Next Steps

This week we met with our members at the Health Department and heard directly from you about the issues you’re facing. Several important matters were raised, and we have already scheduled a meeting with department executives this coming week to address them. We were particularly shocked by the numerous problems at the “new” facilities at 11 Martine Avenue, including members being stranded multiple times due to faulty elevators. We are committed to pushing for real solutions and look forward to productive discussions with management.

Department of Public Safety – Labor Management Committee Established

We are pleased to announce that we have formally established our Labor Management Committee (LMC) at the Department of Public Safety. We look forward to our first meeting and will continue advocating for parity in treatment and responsibilities for our members. As with many uniformed departments, we believe these issues can be resolved through respectful and constructive dialogue.

In addition to DPS, we also have LMCs established at DSS and DES, and we look forward to establishing one in each department!

Primary Election Day & PAC Endorsements

Thank you to all the members who volunteered as election inspectors on Tuesday’s Primary Election Day! Many of you took advantage of the County’s incentive program. Please note that payments may take a couple of pay periods to process, and the corresponding leave days may take the same amount of time to be credited to your balances. If you experience any difficulties, please let us know right away so we can assist.

Regarding our PAC Endorsements: We are thrilled to congratulate our endorsed candidate for New York State Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, on his astounding victory in the primary! Unfortunately, our endorsed candidate for the 15th Legislative District did not win the primary. We will be conducting a new round of interviews for districts and candidates who did not interview previously. The candidates we have already endorsed who did not face a primary will remain our endorsed candidates for the general election.
